🌱 Sustainability

I design + code this website to be lightweight and accessible. Each page generates ~ 0.04g - 0.12g of CO₂ per visit: below 90% of the web average! Servers run on sustainable energy.

Unlock light, beautiful and accessible websites

With a meticulous curation of digital tools respectful of people and the planet, I have cultivated a practice of webdesign dedicated to seamless user experiences, and ensure a cohesive blend of design and functionality for an optimal digital presence.

1∙ A bespoke and intuitive admin panel

A user-friendly and intuitive interface is crucial to easily manage your online content. I use the CMS Kirby (a German alternative to Wordpress and the likes) which allows a total freedom of customization so I can create websites tailored to your specific needs, and nothing else.

2∙ Light and eco-friendly websites

In today's digital landscape, with most of the visits done on smartphones: light and accessible websites are crucial for the user experience and to reach a broader audience. The Kirby CMS is based on an efficient files architecture, that translates into faster loading times while consumming less energy.

3∙ No subscription

Kirby licensing is not based on a subscription model, but on the purchase of a single license. This means that once you've purchased a license, you have permanent access to updates and support, at no extra cost.

4∙ Your content, accessible to everyone

I am part of the designers éthiques association and we develop guidelines and practices to ensure an accessible and environmentally responsible web.

The custom admin panel enables you to directly manage your site, without the need of intermediaries and requires no software installations.

To monitor visits on your website, and the effect of a new campaign, I use Matomo, a free and open source tool that respects the privacy of visitors (GDPR compliant) and packed with all the measuring tools you might need!

All the webpages I develop aim for a carbon footprint score between A and B, which exceeds the recommendations.
EcoIndex serves as a valuable tool to ensure that webpages are not only lightweight and fast but also environmentally responsible. By assessing the ecological impact of digital content, EcoIndex helps in optimizing website performance while promoting sustainable practices, contributing to a more eco-friendly online presence.

WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool) is integral to my web design process to assess the accessibility of websites. I integrate WAVE into my workflow to systematically analyze websites, identify potential accessibility issues, and ensure compliance with industry standards such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), allowing me to create websites that are not only visually appealing but also accessible to users of all abilities.

in 2018 I designed and developped the website of Dr. Pérez-Escudero, to present his research and collaborators. The website answers our criterias of lightness, accessibility and takes a rather low-tech approach on webdesign. (learn more)

Accessibility is at the heart of the Animal Behaviour Live association, which has been organising since 2020 international research conferences online, to connect researchers from all continents. Here we have been able to push even further the concepts of low-tech and lightness, which are at the foundation of the branding.
