During the summer of 2017, Nina and I developed a textile workshop for children aged 8 to 12. The project introduced participants to motifs, textile printing, and the fundamentals of garment construction.
We designed three adaptable clothing pieces based on a tying system, allowing them to be assembled without sewing and to fit a range of body sizes. After selecting a garment, the participants would create their motifs using a combination of linocut printing shapes and freehand painting on pre-cut fabric pieces. The painted textiles were then heat-set, and the garments assembled through a system of knots.
The participative textile design workshop took place in private gardens in Toulouse (France), conceived as a series of small, localised “bubbles” across the city, with the aim of engaging children from diverse backgrounds.- created for:
